FIFA World Cup Organisers have published the code of conduct in the country.

The document lists all instructions and recommendations for certified persons. This document will also be published for all football supporters.

The first part deals with communication with local residents. It is noted that when you entering the house, the oldest person and those who have a “higher status” should be welcomed first

It is prohibited to hug or touch Qatari women. It is only allowed to greet them verbally from a certain distance. It is not recommended to shake hands with Qataris, especially with ladies.

The second part deals with rules of public behaviour. It is not recommended to look closely at the Qataris as it is considered rude and inappropriate. If a Qatari gives something to another person, the thing should be taken with the right hand. It is not recommended to sit with your legs crossed. This is considered an insult.

Public show of love is allowed, but as long as it remains moderate. Flirt is considered inappropriate.

The third part deals with religious issues. Guests of the country are asked not to turn on loud music during the call of prayer, which occurs five times per day. Laws do not require women to wear a chadur except in a mosque, but it is considered a sign of good manners to wear it in order to integrate and show respect for the local culture and avoid unwanted attention.”

The fourth part deals with clothes. Guests are asked to dress modestly and wear clothes covering the shoulders and knees.

Women should wear long trousers or skirts and shirts which cover the chest and neck. T-shirts, sleeveless shirts, short dresses or skirts, short tops are strictly prohibited for women. It is also necessary to ensure that the clothes are not too translucent or form-fitting.

Men are allowed to wear knee-length shorts. It is recommended not to wear skinny jeans and trousers, sports shorts. Men also prohibited going out with exposed torsos.

Jewellery, except for a watch or a wedding ring, is considered inappropriate. If an item belongs to a religion other than Islam, it should be put under the clothes.

The 2022 World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18, 2022.
