Lawrenson claims that he had to leave the BBC

Mark Lawrenson claims that he had to leave the BBC because of gender and skin colour.

Former Liverpool player has taken part in football shows and broadcasts on the BBC’s channels for 30 years. But at the end of last season it was announced to him that the management will change the format of his show.

“I am a white man, and I am 65,” Lawrenson explained the real reason that led to his dismissal.

At the same time, Lawrenson criticised the corporation for the fact that they pay too much attention to social and racial justice.

“During my time at BBC, no one has forbidden me to talk about anything, but all these things related to social and racial justice are disturbing.

Usually you say what comes to your mind, but here you need to think about whether you will have problems because of what you have said. It is like playing football when your legs are tied.

The BBC is a national broadcaster, and I understand that. But the corporation is very afraid to upset someone,” Lawrenson said.
