Spain broke the possession record in a World Cup match

The Spaniards have set a new possession record in a World Cup match.

In their World Cup Group E match against Costa Rica, Luis Enrique’s charges had 81.7% possession. This is a new record in the history of the World Cup.

The previous possession record was set at the 2010 World Cup. Then the Argentina national team had 80.3% possession in the match against Greece.

Spain beat Costa Rica with a score of 7-0. Their seven goals are the most they has ever scored in a World Cup match.
