Barcelona paid Negreira’s son €750 thousand for 4 years during Laporta’s first presidency

Barcelona

Barcelona paid not only Negreira, but also his son.

The Barcelona public prosecution office filed a lawsuit against the club and its former presidents Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell in the case of possible corruption in payments to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. Blaugrana claimed that it paid for the reports on the referees. Negreira received from Barcelona €7.3 million from 2001 to 2018.

According to El Confidencial, Negreira’s son Javier Enriquez Romero also received payments. Since 2004, when Romero was an assistant to Luis Aragonés at the headquarters of the Spain national team, Barcelona had paid him €750,000 for 4 years. This happened during the first presidency of Joan Laporta.

For all that time, Romero received a salary from the Royal Spanish Football Federation. It is not specified what Barcelona paid him for, but information about the payments became known after the check made by the Spanish Tax Agency.
