The Spanish club is negotiating with him informally, while no official offer has been made. This is due to financial restrictions that the club is trying to overcome by agreeing an economic plan with La Liga.
They have not got the approval of La Liga yet. The next discussion will take place on May 31, and representatives of Barcelona will be contacted within a day after that.
Jorge Messi, the father and agent of the footballer, called La Liga and tried to clarify the situation, but received no reply. Barcelona’s management assures him that everything will be fine.
Earlier it was reported that Messi intends to decide on a new club in the coming days. He has offers from the Premier League, the Saudi Pro League, and the MLS.
